i am one very lucky S.O.B.
i realised i simply did not believe in a god..just a man-made idea. so--no point in being a dub anymore. i was 23 years old.
why very lucky ? i'm 69 now.
so that 46 years watchtower-free.
i was a jw for over 50 years and recently just stopped cold turkey going to the meetings.
years of sitting at the meetings with the boredom, the gloom and doom, repetition of doctrine, the gloom and doom, the fake love, the gloom and doom, the end being so close, do more - do more, just got to be too much for me to stomach.
i stopped praying to god and no longer thank god for the food before i eat.

i happened to come across a time article in 2008. it was basically talking about the high turnover in american faiths.
it mentioned the jdubs and highlighted the following point.. an even more extreme example of what might be called "masked churn" is the relatively tiny jehovah's witnesses, with a turnover rate of about two-thirds.
that means that two-thirds of the people who told pew they were raised jehovah's witnesses no longer are — yet the group attracts roughly the same number of converts.
My father converted around a dozen or so people to the JW religion. None of them came from door to door work, something in which he partook with enthusiasm. 6 of his converts were workmates - all of them air traffic controllers at London's Heathrow. (if you've seen Pushing Tin you'll appreciate what a weird bunch they are)
oh dear....just when you thought it was safe to board the plane.
i have never reviewed a product before, but having purchased a hitachi 50 inch full hd lcd tv at the weekend, i thought i'd share my experience.
hitachi tv's are now made in turkey, and not by the hitachi company.
the uk's sole supplier is the argos company.
most large flat tv's sound rubbish--i use a soundbar with a big sub.
i was raised a jw and left the organization when i was 18 years old.
many thought i left because i wanted to live a life full of drugs, sex, and rock and roll, which was not true at all.
i left because i realized that these people had no idea what they were talking about and were simply parroting what the, " society " , told them to believe.
hello Seeker--welcome to the site.
are you willing to tell us your location-?-country i mean.
i used to be a staunch believer in god.
maybe its technology and science advancing so much thats got me doubting idk.
do you believe in god?
a giant invisible man in the sky ?
as a witness i always found a way to not have to embarrass myself by sitting down for the national anthem.. i’m curious.
how many of you stood up for the patriotic song?.
isnt standing for the anthem part of " caesars things "
so i've just skived off to the car park half way through our assembly day - what a classic morning.. i'm sat right behind an early-teen kid with some sort of special needs (autistic?
) who's sat with what looks like his late-30's harassed single parent mother.
(or married to an unbelieving mate?
at least it shows SNK WAS listening.. more than most i imagine.
.....the truth was not the truth... ?
.
i grew up in it--pioneered--was a servant ( 50 ) years ago. i never questioned it--it must be the truth because we were in it !
then--in my early 20's i started really questioning what i thought i believed. and it finally hit me--i just didnt believe in god ! so everything else just went out the window.
